France – Lyon

France – Lyon

Lyon is a wonderful city! One of my favorite in France to be honest.

Lyon is located in the south east of France. Buildings and architecture are wonderful, the city is peaceful!

You definitely should visit this:

  • Le parc de la tête d’or. This parc is WONDERFUL. It has even animals inside, it is huge and it has so much to see! As I lived not so far away from this parc, I enjoyed so much to just relax and spend afternoons there. It is super peacefull
  • Musée Confluence: Wonderful museum
  • Les quais de Lyon.
  • Vieux Lyon and “les traboules”: The old city has so many small streets but also between the buildings, you are able to cross one street to another inside building. It is really impressive – you need to know a little bit Lyon to find it 🙂
  • Fourvière. Wonderful basilica with a special feeling inside. Worth to visit and you have a wonderful view from all the city.
  • Place Bellecour.

Don’t forget to try L’institut Paul bocuse. It is a restaurant where students practise to become chef! It is one of the best experience in my life foodwise! BUT you need to book at least 2 months in advance!

17th of March in Oslo

17th of March in Oslo

Norway, this country is so similar to Sweden but also different at the same time (logical? yes I know!)

I visited Norway twice, the first time was during the celebration of the 17th of May. It is a pretty BIG deal there, it is the national day to celebrate their independence, but I would say it is much more than a NATIONAL DAY, it is the day where everyone gather together and celebrate the fact of being a norwegian. If you want to know more about the history of this day, you can go there.

First of all, they have special customs, girls have dresses and it all depends where your family comes from, it is amazing to see every dress like that.

Then, you start the day with a “champagne breakfast” (Well, go big or go home), you do some games/talks… 11am, it’s time to parade and go into Oslo city! You better not want to lose your friend, because almost everyone is dressed the same! And that’s what you will do all day.. walk into the city, eat and discover so many beautiful aspects of this day!

Here is some pictures of Oslo:

Croatia – Road trip to Rijeka, Zagreb and Krk island

Croatia – Road trip to Rijeka, Zagreb and Krk island

Croatia

We went for a couple of days in Rijeka. We live close to an airport and they have different flights to Europe, and one to Rijeka.

Accomodation: We were staying at the Botel Marina in Rijeka

Day 1. we arrived during the afternoon, we rented a car and went straight to a small city called Krk on the island of KRK. It was wonderful and super warm. The really good point about our travel was that it was during april and we did not have so much turists! We spent the night in the boat. The room was ok, it was unsual to sleep in the boat!

Day 2. We went to Plitvice park! Super impressive

Day 3. Zagreb

Day 4. Rijeka

Day 5. Krk island and come back to Sweden

Recommandations: I would recommend you to NOT book the same hotel. You should do a road trip around Croatia and change cities. Of course, if your goal is to relax then stay to one hotel close to the beach ? Rijeka is really industrial city! You should probably find a nice hotel on the Krk island

France – North west

France – North west

I come from the western part of France, close to Nantes and the atlantic ocean where I grew up.

The western part of France is divided in different regions and you have so many wonderful things to visit.

I will try to summarize it in one article.

  • Nantes: Biggest city, I am not a huge fan of Nantes. It’s alright, but it is maybe because I am used to it. You have to visit:

Centre/Place Graslin/Chateau des ducs de bretagne: take a walk in the center and you will discover so many beautiful things!

L’ile de Nantes (by night it is so much better): it’s an rea with many nices cafés/bars to visit! I would recommend to go in the summer and take a beer at “la cantine du voyage” it is a really really cool place!

Les machines de l’ile: A GIANT elephant that is walking, it is really interesting > https://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/

  • La baule/Saint Nazaire/Guérande/La côte sauvage

This is really where I come from, I grew up there! It is so beautiful, it is in front of the oceans, you have so many beautifuls walks to do!

Go discover “Les salines du guérande” it is where they produce “le sel de guerande” (salt famous in France). Guerande is also a medieval city, it is pretty cool to have a look at the center!

La baule is pretty touristic, go to the beach and to the casino for a night!

In St Nazaire, you may discover the harbor with all the boats! We have a big construction harbor for cruises boat, so it is pretty impressive! (the queen mary was built there)

“La côte sauvage” is all the cities near by the sea, take a car and do a daily trip to visit it! It is so cozy, especially in the summer but it is also really touristic.

  • Rennes

It is about 1h30 to drive there from Nantes or La baule, it is another big city, much more beautiful than Nantes according to me. It has some history and so beautiful buildings. Go to the city center and walk there, you will discover so many nice things!
